Passionate About Serving Others
I conduct individual, marriage, family, group, adolescent, and substance abuse counseling. Because counseling is an interactive process, your commitment, cooperation and open communications will greatly enhance our counseling relationship. This will be extremely beneficial in helping to address/change your thoughts, feeling, and actions or behaviors. Since there are no instant or immediate permanent resolutions to life's challenges, I am asking that you be patient as we work towards an acceptable solution. To facilitate this process, you will be given homework assignments and encouraged to participate in various exercises and projects, as required.
I use a variety of integrative approaches and techniques to include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focus Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to address various challenges and concerns. I am also trained in assessing and treating adolescent who sexually harm and victims of human trafficking. The specific approach or technique will be dependent upon you and the circumstances and/or situation being addressed. However, my primary approach or focus is Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help me gain insight, understanding, and a clear perspective of your habitual thoughts and behaviors. I will always remain open and optimistic and exercise flexibility with the focus of doing no harm to you, the client. Additionally, I will always respect your beliefs and values and be sensitive to your worldview.
Sessions are normally 50 minutes in duration, unless we agree to have an extended session. The fee is $125/hour for individual sessions, $225 for couples, and $50/person for group sessions. Assessments vary in price depending upon the type of assessment. If you are unable to keep an appointment, please call to cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. If I do not receive such advanced notice, you will be responsible for paying a missed appointment fee of $50. Methods of payment include cash, check, and debit/credit card. Payments are due on date service is provided unless other arrangements have been made. (NOTE: No longer processing insurance payments, only private pay).
Some health insurance companies will reimburse clients for counseling services and some will not. In addition, most will require that a diagnosis of a mental-health condition and indicate that you must have an "illness" before they will agree to reimburse you. Some conditions for which people seek counseling do not qualify for reimbursement. If a qualifying diagnosis is appropriate in your case, I will inform you of the diagnosis before we submit the diagnosis to the health insurance company. Any diagnosis made will become part of your permanent insurance records.
All communication becomes part of your clinical record, which is accessible to you upon request. Information disclosed in session is confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone without your written permission except under the following conditions in accordance with North Carolina Law: (1) where there is a reasonable suspicion that the client presents danger to self or others; (2) where there is suspicion of child or elderly abuse; and (3) I am ordered by a court to disclosed information.
